                                        ABOUT US

♦ Hazelbrand soaps are naturally rich in the antioxidant vitamins A and E, some with C. The nutrients and herbs work synergistically to retard oxidation and nourish the skin. Our soaps are soft and lush, and low in lye, and  will last as long as milled bars if stored away from water, preferably in a soap dish that drains.

  •     ♦   Like fresh cheese, during the curing process, the soaps develop a protective "skin." You  may not be able to smell the essentials oils and herbs as readily until you put the soap to water -- then the aromas explode! We prefer to not wrap in plastic shrink-wrap, and instead wrap the soap in recycled paper. We hope our concern for the environment outweighs any inconvenience to you.
  •
  •    ♦  We use only pure vegetable oils, chosen for their skin-care properties. Our Zinnia line (named after our matriarch goat) has the addition of allergy-free, hormone-free goat milk, known for its ability to soften and balance skin.
  •     ♦  We use only essential aromatherapy oils and we shun artificial oils which carry none of the healing, energetic qualities of essential oils and they may be drying to the skin or cause allergic reactions and headaches.

HAZELBRAND is a family farm and sanctuary, a protected gathering place for artists, horses, herbalists and people looking for a day of quiet and reflection. Here, along the Alcovy River, in the  Southern forests of the Piedmont,  we ply two old-world crafts: that of the hermitage, with Quiet Days, a Prayer Hut and meditation retreats, and that of our cottage industry of soapmaking.

Like chefs, we take a few exceptional natural ingredients and let them shine. Our olive oil soaps, named "Editor's Pick" by Natural Health Magazine, are lush, living foods. Like the plants that inspire us, our soaps go about their work, quietly and invisibly, nurturing and nourishing your skin.  They work energetically to heal in myriad ways.

To us, prosperity is clean air and water, open wild land where we can experience both primal silence and the primal call of owls, herons and songbirds as we go about our work. Real prosperity comes from  protecting this

creation, enjoying it and learning from it as part of our sacred work. Thank you for taking the time to honor the Divine, by considering Hazelbrand and the work and play we do here.
